By stimulating the nerves in the skin and muscle, Medical Acupuncture is a treatment which can provide pain relief and help alleviate the symptoms of some physical conditions.
There are a number of things that happen when you have acupuncture:
The majority of the time, you will experience a slight twitch in your muscle as the needle enters. This is an involuntary spinal cord reflex and is a normal reaction. It will indicate to your therapist the needle has been placed correctly and helps improve the desired outcome of the session.
You may also feel a slight heaviness in the muscle, which is also a natural response to the needle and nothing to be concerned about and this feeling will gradually disperse post treatment.
Overall, acupuncture is extremely safe and our therapists find it one of the most beneficial treatments alongside the other manual therapies on offer.
